Panellist full name, job title & email

A briefing including timings, potential questions as well as profiles for the other speakers on your panel will be provided by Bright Network prior to the event.

Panellist profile: The panellist should be either a role model for these members from within the business, or a member of the team who can speak confidently about diversity and inclusion, its importance, and how the partner organisation goes about delivering this commitment. We would highly recommend having someone in a senior management position sit on the panel. Feedback from students at previous events has been that they highly value hearing insight from senior professionals.

Please send the title and a 100-word blurb/description of your skills session.

Skills session objective: To provide our diverse attendees with the key competencies to be successful as they enter the world of work as well as at your firm specifically. Below are some key results from Bright Network's annual research report that can help guide your skills session topic:

  • 77% of Black Heritage students think it's important to read and write code. However, just 2% of the UK tech workforce is of Black heritage (compared to the England and Wales populations of 4%)
  • 30% of Black Heritage students felt their ethnicity was the biggest barrier to them pursuing the career path they wished
  • 16% of respondents stated Networking as something they need more upskilling in before entering the workforce

Keynote objective: To inspire our Black Heritage members on the realities and expectations of success within their chosen sectors.

Keynote speaker profile: We would highly recommend having a keynote speaker that understands the challenges and opportunities of being a person of Black Heritage. Feedback from students at previous events has been that they highly value hearing from senior professionals in the organisation who are able to give a personal anecdote on their path to success. Our Bright Network members are diverse and come from a range of backgrounds. At last year’s Black Heritage Future Leaders event, our attendee profile was: 53% female, 40% first generation university students, 38% free school meals, and 87% state school educated. Therefore, we encourage your firm to consider the above audience demographics when choosing a keynote speaker.
