Your Mission
As part of the Executive team, the CMO will have accountability to drive all aspects of the B2B (client) and B2C (student) marketing strategy across the Bright Network platform that penetrates & engages both audiences. You will have full ownership and development of the Bright Network brand, ensuring wide and well-respected recognition amongst both sides of the market You will not only enable Bright Network’s continued UK growth but you will also take a leading role in entering and scaling new international markets, in 2022 and beyond as we move towards being a truly global brand
This is an opportunity for a proven marketing leader to shape the three-year marketing strategy that will drive growth objectives. As part of the cohesive Bright Network Executive team, the CMO will also share responsibility for business wide strategic and operational planning and delivery.
Your mission is to shape Bright Network marketing into a dynamic, insight led, automated, marketing machine. Delivered through a blend of martech, in-house teams and agency resource – to one’s own specification.
Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy
- Review, iterate and implement the marketing decision-making systems / tools / processes. Developing industry leading insight capability for marketing and product decisions.
- Manage the B2C and B2B customer experience through the entire lifecycle, to ensure the product function is developing a clear roadmap, driven by customer understanding.
- Work closely with the commercial team to provide high quality reporting with insight and commentary, as part of the Executive team.
- Strengthen our strategic planning, by creating clarity and rigor on customer, market and competitors’ insights.
- Plan the marketing calendar and lead the development of all key marketing campaigns throughout the year.
- Own and develop the planning, briefing and execution process, across all teams, aiming to maximise cut through of our campaigns.
Leadership
- Build collaboration with all functional heads to drive company-wide initiatives, best practice, innovation, talent development and knowledge sharing.
- As a key member of the Executive team, evangelise performance and brand marketing and data driven decision making. Use your expertise to build the knowledge and capability of fellow leaders.
- Structure, hire and evolve an outstanding team; providing development, coaching and performance management. Ensure the team is motivated and productive
Brand & Content Marketing
- Lead the development and implementation of standout content and thought leadership plans (B2C & B2B), ensuring they cross all customer touchpoints.
- Support the commercial and product team in the development of compelling propositions and product features.
- Design, plan and execute industry leading campaigns, that are bold and unique and deliver on both student acquisition and lead generation targets.
Performance Marketing
- Create and oversee “always on” testing across all performance marketing activities (including member acquisition) to improve optimisation and ROI by channel. Ensure data and insight sit at the heart of all marketing decision making.
- Manage and test any paid media spend, focused on the delivery of ROI to agreed targets.
- Develop and manage data driven marketing campaigns to current B2C (student) customers, to increase student value, retention, acquisition and engagement.
- Customise, deliver and optimise an automated customer lifecycle system, delivering growth KPIs, as part of a new account-based marketing (ABM) strategy.
Requirements
- A significant number of years' experience leading high performing marketing teams within fast paced, high growth environments.
- Broad expertise across all aspects of marketing, targeting both B2C and B2B audiences.
- Strong commercial acumen paired with entrepreneurial energy, creativity and a customer first mindset.
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentational).
- An empowering, inspirational and empathetic leadership style, able to manage, develop and grow a team of multi-disciplined marketers (current team size of eight plus agency support with growth plans for the year ahead)
- Creative and entrepreneurial, but at the same time data-driven and analytical, with a strong understanding of growth KPIs.
- Comfortable with both high-level, strategic thinking, and hands-on implementation, with close attention to detail.
- Ability to work at pace in an agile work setting, proven “scale-up” experience in a PE / VC backed business would be beneficial.
- Confident to take true personal ownership.
- Strategic thinker, with the confidence to challenge the business / status quo.
- Adaptability, to bring a fresh approach to innovation and new proposition development.
- High energy: in intellect, communication style and actions.
- Super curious, naturally interrogates deeply.
