The Importance of Job Descriptions

When asked why the language used in a job description is important to them, our members preferred:

  • If companies are using language about transparency then they should make sure the language fits and also be transparent in themselves, such as about job salary.
  • That companies avoid using technical jargon and acronyms as it isn’t appealing for entry-level candidates.
  • Organisations that aren’t just tick-boxing for their D&I strategy by trying to recruit a particular group of people, but who have embedded D&I into their long-term culture.

These are just some of the ways that organisations can adapt their job descriptions to ensure candidates are attracted to the company and are encouraged to apply. These simple changes can highlight the transparency and inclusivity of an organisation to their future workforce.
